Catter Up

So last week, Mike talked about the Paul Simon song, "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover," and for last week's Game Time, we asked you all to tell us some more ways. There were lots of good entries, but we're gonna have to give the prize to Elizabeth for her "Jump off a cliff, Biff." Kind of a sad way to leave your lover, since you will also be leaving the rest of the living world too, but still.

Anyway, on to this week's game. This week, we've talked about ice cream, baseball, and dead cats. So this week's game will be to write a story using all of these key plot elements. (Oh, we should probably bold the game and put it on its own line).

Write a story involving ice cream, baseball, and dead cats.

Here's ours:
Once upon a time, there was a man named Jimmy. Jimmy loved ice cream, baseball, and dead cats. Jimmy was very strange. The end.

Your turn.

  1. When I was visitng my uncle in Detroit many years ago, he took me to a Tigers' game. My uncle was great; he showed me how to keep score, he bought me hot dogs and peanuts, and even let me get one of those ice cream sundaes that they serve in a baseball cap. The home team was losing by a lot, so after the 7th inning stretch and our chorus of 'Take me out to the Ballgame' he looked down at me and said, 'Let's go, these cats are dead'! Of course, they scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th, and six more in the bottom of the 9th to win the game. When he dropped me off my mom told me what happened in the game. We all had a nice laugh. Then I said "Thanks" to my uncle..."For NOTHING!"

  2. Hey SHLAKERS...you forgot the 40 word limit! Here's a story you won't need 20 minutes at work to read.

I love going to my classmate Ludovico's house. He has the coolest toys. We play Wii baseball for hours. Plus, his mom lets us eat all the ice cream we want. The one bad part about playing at his house is the annoying smell of dead cats. Ludovico is the only kid in our class that has a Wii.

  3. Muffy looked around. Everything was glowing, white, and soft, like clouds. She saw someone next to her, "Where are we?" "Your 9th life has just ended." answered St. Peterkins. "Amazing!" said Muffy, "All the ice cream I can eat!" "Yes" replied the furry guardian with a warm smile. "What's more, we have no baseball here." Muffy purred, "Wow- this really is heaven."

  4. Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowds,
Buy me some ice cream and Cracker Jack,
    I don't care if I see 5 dead cats,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
    If they don't win it's a shame,
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out
    At the old ball game!
